چکیده

Methods We used self-constructed models to simulate the aortic root. The related structures were constructed. Aortomitral angle of 120 degrees was created in the models. We performed three enlargement procedures 1. Manougian 2. Nicks 3. Nunez. Manougian and Nunez incisions were made through the commissure between the left and the Non coronary cusps (NCC) where Manougian extended through the anterior leaflet of the Mitral Valve (AML) while Nunez stopped proximal to the anterior annulus of the mitral valve. Nick’s incision was carried out through the middle of the NCC and also extending through the AML. Enlargements were carried out with a Dacron patch.

Flow simulation of gallium in a cylindrical annulus in the presence of a magnetic field for improving the casting process

Free convection flow in an enclosure filled with a congealing melt leads to the product with a nonuniform structure involving large grains. The convective flows are decreased by applying an appropriate magnetic field, obtaining uniform and small grain structures. In this work, using the finite volume method, we investigated the application of a magnetic field to the convective heat transfer and...

Trends in mechanical aortic valve replacement surgery in a large, multi-surgeon, single hospital practice

INTRODUCTION In recent decades, new high-performance prostheses have been invented for use with small aortic annuli, and they have helped avoid patient prosthesis mismatch (PPM) without the need for aortic annular enlargement. The purpose of this study is to examine the trends in mechanical aortic valve replacement surgery in a large, multi-surgeon, single hospital practice. MATERIAL AND METH...

Aortic Annular Enlargement during Aortic Valve Replacement

In the surgery of aortic valve replacement is always attempted, as much as possible, to implant the larger prosthesis with the mains goals to enhance the potential benefits, to minimise transvalvular gradient, decrease left ventricular size and avoid the phenomenon of patient-prosthesis mismatch. Implantation of an ideal prosthesis often it is not possible, due to a small aortic annulus. A vari...

Hemodynamic comparison of bioprostheses for complete supra-annular position in patients with small aortic annulus.

OBJECTIVES The present study evaluates complete supra-annular bioprostheses in patients with an aortic annulus of 18 to 23 mm in diameter. BACKGROUND Aortic valve replacement in patients with small aortic annulus using stented bioprostheses is often associated with unsatisfactory hemodynamic results and high incidence of patient-prosthesis mismatch. METHODS Between February 2000 and January...

Coronary occlusion after the Manouguian procedure in a patient with a single coronary artery: a case report

BACKGROUND The association between the anatomy of a single coronary artery (SCA) and the surgical risk of aortic valve replacement (AVR) remains unclear due to a lack of studies on this topic. CASE PRESENTATION A 73-year-old woman underwent AVR for aortic stenosis. Preoperative coronary angiography results showed a SCA arising from the left coronary sinus. The Manouguian procedure was perform...
